Gone fishing
Fishing in Cayman offers many different options for the experienced or novice angler. The islands are blessed with year-round reef fishing, deep sea fishing, flat fishing and in-shore fishing. Local fishing grounds are generally no more than 15 to 20 minutes away and their proximity can allow for more time to throw a line in.
Local fishing charters specialise in half- and full-day trips. Some even offer shared fishing charters starting from around $150 per person. Typically, anglers catch snapper, grouper and other small fishes, like grunt, when reef fishing at the Cayman drop-off, and larger fish, including yellowfin tuna, marlin, mahi mahi and barracuda, when deep sea fishing at locations such as 12 Mile Bank. Bone fishing and flat fishing are popular in the flats in Barkers National Park, West Bay and also in Little Cayman.
