Flowers Sea Swim makes a splash
The celebrated Flowers Seam Swim looks set to be one of the most popular sporting events again this summer.

Now in its 19th year, Flowers Sea Swim has been named in the world’s top 100 open water sea swims for its pristine conditions and fun atmosphere.

Last year’s race boasted more than 800 competitors and it looks set to surpass the 1000 mark in 2011.

Participants range in age from eight to 80 years old, and all skill levels can participate in the one-mile race, from novices to gold-medal Olympians from around the world.

The unique draw of the Flowers Sea Swim is not only its flawless course conditions along Cayman’s glorious Seven Mile Beach, but the numerous random prizes.

Organised mainly by the father and daughter duo of Frank Flowers and Dara Flowers-Burke, the race is the world’s richest open water event with more than $100,000 in cash and prizes available.

This year, giveaways include round-trip tickets on Cayman Airways, Digicel phones, Red Sail Sports activities, restaurant vouchers, BlackBerrys and much more.

Flowers Group, which hosts the event, has also organised travel packages for hotel recommendations.
For non-swimmers who still want to get involved, their Walk and Watch programme is offered again this year. It is ideal for the non-swimmer who still wants to take part in the excitement of the Flowers Sea Swim and contribute to a worthy cause.

All proceeds from registration are donated to charity.
