Motor Museum Cayman is not usually known for its classic cars.
But Cayman Motor Museum looks set to change that with a collection of classic
and exotic cars that is hard to beat.
The brainchild of passionate collector, Andreas Ugland Snr, Cayman Motor Museum
features cars from across the ages, from the early days of the automobile to
recent pop culture classics.
In the vast, unique collection, the piece de résistance is the original
Batmobile, used in the 1960s television series starring Adam West. The car’s
sweeping lines, impressive fins and bubble canopy are, at once, futuristic and
retro, a delight for Batman fans young and old.
Another car with a Hollywood credit to its name is a yellow 1929 Rolls Royce,
which was used in the 1960s film, The Yellow Rolls Royce, where it shared the
screen with Ingrid Bergman and Rex Harrison. Then there is a 1963 Bentley that
once belonged to rock royalty, Sir Elton John, as well as a 1956 Daimler, which
was the first limousine for Queen Elizabeth II.
Those with an appreciation for fast cars will not be disappointed, as Cayman
Motor Museum boasts 11 sleek, Italian Ferraris, many of them in the iconic red.
Cayman history is also on display at the museum, with a 1905 Cadillac among the
many automobile treasures. This vehicle is the same make and model as the first
car ever driven in the Cayman Islands. The original was imported to Cayman from
Cuba in 1914. The Cadillac in the museum was found in Canada after an
exhaustive search.
Cayman Motor Museum is the perfect stop for car fans, or those who simply want
to experience vehicles that have had an impact on pop culture or history, such
as the Batmobile.
Located just past Cayman Turtle Farm, on North West Point Road, Cayman Motor
Museum is one of the highlights of a trip to West Bay.
